MATT French raced to victory in both races of the NGR Over-30 Championships held at Wakes Colne in Essex on Sunday.

French, who easily won the the first one, has now drawn level with first round winner Danny Hasket who finished second. Vince Snell was third from Darren Murfitt and David Lockwood.

The second leg saw French and Haskett having a wheel-to-wheel battle for the lead until Haskett fell and had to fight from fifth place to collect another second position. Matt Hurt was third from Lee Keyton, Murfitt and Snell.

In the NGR Non-Championship race it was Haksett's turn to win. French led from the start, chased hard by Haskett, until they clashed and both went down.

After remounting, it was Haskett who finally took the win from French with Matt Hunt again third, followed by Lockwood, Keyton and John Cole.

In the Group A races Nathan Norman dominated, winning both races and his qualifying heat.

In the first moto, Norman led, with Jak Terry, Jason Morland and Paul Edge fighting for second position. The issue was settled when Morland retired with a puncture. Norman took the win from Terry, Edge and Joe Stevens.

Leg two saw Norman and Morland involved in a closely-fought race with Norman again claiming the win. Behind Morland came Terry, Brad Tomlin and Jason Boutell.

It looked as if Norman's dominance was over in the main Allcomers' Final when Paul Edge led by some distance for nearly all of the 20-minute race.

But with two laps left he had to retire with a puncture leaving Norman with his fourth victory of the day. Terry rose well for second place, holding off Morland, Andrew Greeney, Tomlin and James Barnwell.

In the Group B races Luton rider James Barney took the overall win, with newly-married Woodbridge rider, Carl Melton, in second place. Nathan Jacobs had two good rides to claim third overall.

The meeting, organised by the Halstead club, was held in dry conditions although dust was a nuisance during the second half the competition.
