Colchester United today completed the signing of former loanee, Matt Briggs, on a two-year deal.

Briggs will look to cement his place in the team at left-back, during the new season, just as Richard Brindley, signed earlier this month, will be hoping to establish himself as the regular right-back.

Just as Brindley starred during a loan stint at the Essex club from Rotherham, during the back-end of last season, so fellow full-back Briggs played a key role in helping the U’s to avoid relegation during his loan stay from Millwall.

Briggs, 24, left Millwall at the end of last season, and so has been signed on a free transfer.
