Lowestoft Town boss Ady Gallagher is willing to stay with the Trawlerboys after holding initial discussions with chairman Gary Keyzor.

Gallagher hinted that he was considering leaving Crown Meadow after a rollercoaster 2016/17 campaign off the field.

Gallagher believes the club is at its lowest ebb in the last 10 years but feels a plan is being concocted for the club to progress on and off the field.

“At this moment in time, based on my initial discussions I’m happy to move forward with the club,” said Gallagher. “If the club can draw a line under the recent past then I will be here for as long as the club want me.

“I think it’s important from the supporters’ point of view that we are open.

“I do not want to stay at this level forever at Lowestoft but it has to be accepted that we haven’t got the finances to compete with the big hitters in this league.

“However, I still believe we can formulate a squad that can do well at this level.

“As long as they club as I feel the club is moving forward then I’m really happy to take that on.”

Gallagher revealed that next season’s budget will be half of what it initially was when he took sole charge at the Meadow two years ago. There will be player movement but Gallagher wants to ensure every single member of his squad feels wanted at the start of next season.

“I was unhappy with things last year and the way the players were treated,” he added. “There are many different issues that need to be addressed and the club need to get that in order in the way they look after the first team. You have to make sure you look after the players in the right way. Players need to feel like the club cares and respects them.”

Gallagher will be holding discussions with his squad after Monday’s Suffolk Premier Cup final against Needham Market.

The Town boss admits there could be casualties as he looks to balance the books whilst maintaining a competitive squad.

“We’ve got to juggle things around in the squad as we need to free up some money,” he said. “The finances are very tight. We’ve got a very good nucleus of a squad – a couple of the players will go but if we can add a few more then I’m sure we can move forward.”
