Colchester United won 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Heybridge Swifts on Wednesday evening, but the result was overshadowed by a nasty-looking injury to new midfield recruit Craig Eastmond.
The former Arsenal youngster was felled by Swifts’ Ryan Doyle in the first half and had to be stretchered off.
The hosts went ahead through Ben Newson in the first half, but the U’s had levelled before the break through John-Joe O’Toole – the midfielder slamming home Drey Wright’s cross.
Drey Wright then bagged the winner in the second half, slotting home the winner from David Wright’s pass.
