FRIENDLY: Woodbridge 21 Ipswich 63

WOODBRIDGE improved steadily throughout the three 30-minute periods, during their 63-21 defeat to Ipswich.

Tries in the first period all went to Ipswich with Chris Blom scoring twice and Simon Uzokwe and Brad James offloading to two, usually unmarked options coming from deep with pace.

After an early Ipswich try from Uzokwe in the second period, Woodbridge’s possession, tackling and teamwork improved.

They exploited some Ipswich substitutions and Garnham drove over, scoring a converted try, before Ipswich rallied quickly, Dan Phelps joining the try scorers, along with the Ipswich hooker James.

The final 30 minutes saw two tries from Woodbridge’s Johnstone and Taylor, which were both converted.

Ipswich hit back and eventually increased their try tally to 11 to complete a good day, with Carlton Littlechild also on the scoresheet.
