Sudbury Cricket Club's preparations for the new season are well under way.

Spokesman Louis Brooks said: “Junior and senior nets have been really well attended and there is a great buzz around the club this close season.

“We have new players who have joined the club and players back from injury, and we are very excited about our new coach.”

Peter Siegert will captain the first team and Steve O Brien the seconds. James Yallop and Dave Shropshire will run the Sunday sides, while Emily Palmer will lead the ladies, who are looking to build on a good year last season.

“We hope to be challenging for every league we play in, making a push for promotion to the East Anglian Premier league and winning the the Suffolk cup,” said Brooks.

“Things are shaping up well. Last season saw the second team promoted to division three of the two counties and the thirds to division seven and we hope to build on last season's success with some league titles.”
