Colchester United have completed their second loan signing, inside the last 24 hours, by recruiting Luke Garbutt from Everton.
Garbutt, predomiantly a left-back, will go straight into the U’s squad for tomorrow’s League One test at Bradford City.
An England Under-20 international, the highly-rated Garbutt helped Cheltenham Town to reach the League Two play-offs during a long loan stay at the Robins in 2011-12. He played in the Under-20s World Cup this summer.
Harrogate-born Garbutt could well make his U’s debut at Valley Parade, because regular left-back Ryan Dickson remains troubled by a long-term virus.
Garbutt, 20, who switched from Leeds to the Everton Academy in 2009, made his Toffees senior debut as a substitute in a 5-0 win over Leyton Orient in a League Cup tie on August 29. 2012.
He signed a new Everton contract before the start of this season.
