TIME is running out to make your contribution to an exciting new book, all about memories of Layer Road, the historic former home of Colchester United.

Editors Matt Hudson and Jim French have been collating an assortment of anecdotes and photos, sent by U's fans and football supporters from all over the country, and beyond.

To date, the contributors have ranged from the age of five up to 90, with information sent from as far afield as Brisbane and the Niagara Falls!

For example, there is a poignant contribution from Arthur Turner, a legendary U's player from the 1950's who got married on the same day that Colchester were elected to the Football League in 1950.

Some amazing photos have already been sent in, including a fan's shot of a queue of fans for the U's versus Ipswich match in the early 1950's, taken from his bedroom window in Layer Road!

Contributions from all eras are equally important, from the first to the last game at Layer Road.

The most important thing is that contributions shed light on what it was like to follow the U's during the Layer Road days.

Contributors should contact Matt Hudson by letter (to Weston Homes Community Stadium), phone (01206 755146) or email matt@colchesterunited.co.uk
