EIGHT teams have entered for this season's Ipswich Inter-Firm Cup after the competition was re-vamped by Suffolk FA after 18 years when it lied dormant.

James Payne, football administration manager of Suffolk FA, said: “The response to the competition has been superb and we have eight excellent entries.

“A number of companies, for a variety of reasons, elected not to commit for this season, but their interest remains for 2009/10.

“Most pleasing is the number of comments received from local people who remember the competition of old and have offered positive feedback on seeing this competition appearing once more on the footballing calendar of Ipswich.

“I hope that although embryonic at this time, the competition will expand further next season with more companies committing to enter and it going from strength to strength. This first round (quarter-finals) will be played next year, with semi-finals and final at neutral venues scheduled for spring 2009.”

The draw is: Ipswich Borough Council v ISG Jackson, Call Connection v Ipswich Postals, Barnes Group v John Grose, BT Trimley v Ipswich Police.
