Great away-day win for Southwold

Eastern Counties 1: Ely 5 Southwold 16

SOUTHWOLD’S late season resurgence continued with a great away day against Ely.

Having contained the hosts to 5-0 at the break, Southwold turned around and made far better use of the slope and wind.

They scored tries through skipper and prop, Adam Smith and Chris Middleditch, who took a sublime pass from the back of the line out to dart over for the final try of the match.

The trusty boot of Elliot McDaniel contributed six points through penalties, putting Southwold clear of the relegation zone.
