THE new look GreenUn24 scooped Innovation or New Product Launch of 2008 at the Archant national awards in London.

Editor Mike Bacon (centre) and web editor Ben Brett (left), attended and picked up the award from Archant chief executive Adrian Jeakings, who commented on the successful rebirth of the Green'Un after the finishing of the Saturday night edition.

Web figures for GreenUn24 continue to rise, and Monday's Evening Star, which includes a 24-page Green'Un sports pull-out, has also seen copy increases.

Mike Bacon said: “Six months ago people thought the Green'Un in Suffolk was dead. But I knew that was never going to happen and with the hard-working and dedicated staff here in Ipswich, we have made GreenUn24 and the pull-out in the Evening Star a huge success.

“Our loyal readers and correspondents from when the Green'Un was a Saturday sports paper continue to support us and non-league is high on our agenda, as anyone who visits this web site on a regular basis can see.”

GreenUn24 was also highly commended and runner-up in the EDF Energy Eastern Regional website of the year category at an awards lunch in Norwich.
