Thurlow Nunn Premier Hadleigh United 3 Wroxham 0 This was an impressive win for the Brettsiders, who played with a confidence and belief that surprisingly proved beyond the visitors, who were seeking their fifth successive win, writes John Campany.

Although Wroxham were reduced to 10 men during the first half, Shane Wardley’s side proved far too strong and could so easily have been out of sight before the dismissal.

Hadleigh showed pace in abundance up front that Wroxham were unable to contain, particularly Kyle Cassell who was a constant threat, ably assisted by Dan Knight and James Ross, who often outpaced defenders in the wide positions.

The home defence was well marshalled, with skipper Kris Rose in excellent form, and well supported by Charlie Howlett that hardly gave the visitors a chance to make any real impact.

Hadleigh deservedly went ahead on 24 minutes when a ball played from a deep position was fastened onto by Ross down the wide right who used his speed before unselfishly squaring to the oncoming Kyle Cassell, who powered in from close range.

Already fighting a rearguard contest, Wroxham’s plight was hardly helped four minutes later when Simon Lappin was given a straight red card for what appeared to be foul and abusive language.

Two yellow cards were then administered to Adam Plumstead and Harley Black as frustration crept into the visitors’ play, whilst Hadleigh’s Marco Makris was also booked.

The Brettsiders continued to impress and Milligan made a good save from Cassell.

In the 63rd minute the lead was extended when a fine build up culminated with Cassell racing in to the box releasing the ball to Ross, who swept home from 6 yards.

Three minutes later Cassell added his second to complete a fine team performance in preparation for their FA Vase match at Little Oakley next Saturday.

Elsewhere in the Premier, Framlingham Town were beaten 2-1 at Norwich United, Matt Aldis netting for the Castlemen.
