HARLESTON entertained Broxbourne for their first home league game. Harleston started the stronger of the two sides playing some nice hockey, preventing Broxbourne from entering their 25 for 10 minutes.

Harleston deservedly took the lead through Andy Hipwell after he latched onto a through ball before audaciously lobbing the keeper on his reverse stick.

Harleston soon found themselves 2 goals up again Andy Hipwell scoring from a penalty corner. Harleston took their foot off the pedal which allowed Broxbourne to get back into the game with Iain Marting having to make a diving save to preserve Harleston's clean sheet at half time.

Harleston again struggled to get going in the second half which allowed Broxbourne to come at them, Harleston conceaded a penalty stroke as Iain Martin made a diving safe with his back stick which Broxbourne slotted home. This was the wake up call that Harleston needed as they again extended their lead to 2 goals as Chris Barber rounded the keeper twice before crossing the ball for Neil Toulson to tap home at the back post.

Harleston were then awarded a penalty stroke as Chris Barber was flattened by the Broxbourne but Harleston weren't able to convert which set up a tense last 15 minutes. Harleston struggling to string passes together conceded again from a well worked short corner but were able to cling on to their lead to seal another three points.
