Harwich & Dovercourt 3 Ipswich V 1
A depleted Ipswich V side were duly beaten by runaway Division Seven SE leaders Harwich & Dovercourt.
Two players debuted for the V's in the form of George Payne, who led the attack well, and Chris Bradshaw, who slotted in at left back.
A quiet start was to be expected, but both grew in confidence as the evenly matched but competitive first half finished with neither side able to unlock the defences.
The second period found Ipswich two goals down early on but this did not deter the visitors from playing some great hockey. John Hauxwell gave Ipswich a goal when he skipped through the defence and unleashed a shot that flew over the line.
Ipswich strove to find the equaliser with some good all round play but finally ran out of time. Overall it was a good performance for a team that had so many new faces enforced upon it.
