Haverhill Borough secured their first trophy in their short history with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Stowmarket Town in the Thurlow Nunn Division One cup final on Friday night.
Borough striker Craig Pruden opened the scoring after pouncing on to a poor back pass and slotting calmly past Stowmarket goalkeeper Dan Joyce after only 10 minutes, and three minutes later the lead was doubled when midfielder Scott Lodge hit a tremendous strike from 30 yards.
Stowmarket enjoyed their best period of the game as the first half progressed, with Charlie Turner producing an outstanding save from Mical Moore as he broke through the Borough defence, before Borough left back Rory Bone headed off the line from the resulting corner.
However, as momentum appeared to be shifting, Bone fired in an inch-perfect cross for Jonny Milne to leap and glance a header past Joyce to give Borough a 3-0 lead into the break. Pruden added a fourth early in the second half before, as time ran, out Matt Staines added a fifth for Borough, bundling in a far post cross.
