Ipswich Witches teenage star Cameron Heeps admits he has questioned his own ability in recent weeks.

The 16-year-old Aussie who has shown up well in early season meetings for the Suffolk side, scored three points for the Witches against Leicester on Good Friday, and it has left him concerned some of his performances haven’t been good enough.

Ahead of tonight’s League Cup meeting with Plymouth Devils at Foxhall Stadium, Heeps says his form has concerned him and he has even questioned whether he is good enough.

“I think scoring three points last week worried me,” Heeps said.

“Perhaps I expect too much of myself. I’m worried I’m letting people down and I don’t want to do that. I don’t want to let anyone down.”

Heeps however is surrounded by good mentors and friends and after talking it through with them, he is happy his confidence is back.

“I’ve got a lot of good friends and they’ve spoken to me this week and told me I’m doing fine,” he added.

“My average is three points and I’m getting that and more.

“I just think I had a bit of a funny moment, I put out a tweet that said I was struggling and yes you start questioning yourself. But I’m okay now.”

For a 16-year-old Heeps has shown tremendous maturity on the bike and Ipswich fans will be hoping he and their team can pick up another three points tonight against the Devils, on their way to the League Cup final.
