FEN Tigers legend Robert Henry is returning to West Row as the club’s new team manager.

Promoters Kevin Jolly, Michael Lee and Chris Louis never made any secret of the fact he was there number one target and like the mounties they’ve finally got their man!.

“It’s brilliant news said Lee. He added “ Everyone of any age who has followed Mildenhall has heard of Robert. He really is one of the all time greats and to get him back involved at West Row is fantastic. He was part of the most successful period in the Fen Tigers history and we’ll be thrilled if he can guide our young team to success in the new era as we try and restore Mildenhall as a real force in speedway”.

Getting Henry to agree to take the job was helped by the ovation he got at the packed “Support the Tigers” night earlier this month. Lee explained how events unfolded after that. “Robert had turned the job down because of work commitments but he came along that night and seeing so many people there and the reaction to him made him think again. He went back to his boss Trevor Mirkin at KJM Sweepers and he agreed to let Robert take the time out and become the Tigers team manager. We can’t thank Trevor enough. It was brilliant of him and just shows how the Mildenhall “new era” is capturing everyone’s imagination”.

Co-promoter Kevin Jolly couldn’t hide his delight as well “He is the right man for the job. He has been there, done it and knows what Mildenhall Fen Tigers are all about.”We are thrilled because we are getting the candidate we have wanted from the start it’s superb news”.

On the track it now seems certain the final two team places will be filled after the press and practise day on April the 11th. And the chance to become the Fen Tigers main team sponsor is still up for grabs. Lee said “It’s hard to find a backer in the current economic climate but I’m sure we’ll find someone who wants to have their name associated with such an exciting time for Mildenhall speedway”
