The nights may be drawing in with Halloween just around the corner, but of course that does not dampen our enthusiasm for sport.

Indeed as some go into hibernation for a winter break others take centre stage.

Take a look below to find out where you can go for some top local sporting action this weekend, for less than £15 per person.

Football: Felixstowe and Walton v Haverhill Borough

This is the first round proper of the FA Vase with a 3pm kick-off.

There have been few games this season where The Seasiders have not scored so there should be some entertaining football played – especially as last time out they recorded a 4-0 victory over Long Melford.

Obviously, with the match being knock-out football, it makes everything that little bit more exciting.

Venue: The Goldstar Ground, Dellwood Avenue, Felixstowe, IP11 9HT. Tickets: Adult £6, concession £3, under 16 free. Date: 3pm, October 22.

Rugby Union: Colchester Rugby Club v Tonbridge Juddians

It’s been a bit of a struggle this season for Colchester this season as they have lost all six of their league matches.

They are not bottom of the league though – their four losing bonus points but them above basement side Amersham and Chiltern – but it will be a tough game this weekend against fourth-placed Tonbridge.

Could these be the weekend they turn their season around?

Venue: Mill Road Playing Fields, Mill Road, Mile End, Colchester, Essex, CO4 5JF. Tickets: Non-members £5, members free. Date: 3pm, Octboer 22.

Motorsport: Racing at Foxhall Stadium

As is usual with the events at Spedeworth’s Foxhall Stadium there are plenty of different classes of racing to watch this weekend.

All taking place on the same day are the 2.0 Hot Rods (Hoosier Racing Tire series, round 14), the National Hot Rods (2016/17 World Qualifying round 6) and the Superstox (Safari Land Rover Engineering Challenge series, round 12).

Venue: Foxhall Stadium, Foxhall Road, Ipswich, IP4 5TL. Tickets: Adult £15, 65 and over £10, children aged 5-14 £6, family (two adults, three children) £40. Date: 6.45pm, October 22.

Basketball: Ipswich v Liverpool

Another chance to see the town’s basketball team in action in the National Basketball League’s second division.

They’ve only played one league game so far, a narrow single-point loss at home to Derbyshire Arrows, so will be keen to get some points on the board.

The same could be said of Liverpool, although they sit bottom of the 12-team table after two losses from two games and a points difference of -31.

Venue: Copleston Centre, Foxhall Road, Ipswich, IP3 8LR. Tickets: Adult £3.50, under 18 £2, under 11 free. Date: 5pm, October 22.

Horse racing: The Final Meeting, Newmarket

Not the final meeting ever, obviously, but the last chance to see some racing action at the Rowley Mile this season.

We are looking a little further ahead to the weekend after this one, but probably worth planning it in your diary if you want to go.

As well as the racing action there are plenty of activities to keep children entertained, including a bouncy castle, a Halloween fancy dress competition and a trick or treat trail.

Venue: Newmarket Racecourse, The Links, Newmarket, CB8 0TG. Tickets: From £14.40. Date: 11.50am (gates open), 1.50pm (first race) to 5.15pm (last race), October 28 and 29.
