RUSSIA coach Guus Hiddink today told Dutch radio that he expects to take charge of Chelsea until the end of the season.

The Russian Football Union gave their backing for discussions to take place with the London club, who on Monday sacked manager Luiz Filipe Scolari after a run of poor results saw them well off the pace in the race for the Premier League title.

Hiddink told Radio 538 that he expects to be in charge at Stamford Bridge next week but will continue to manage the Russians.

He said: "Abramovich does so much for Russian football that I wanted to do something back. One of these days I will go to London. I expect to be there on the field next week.'

Hiddink added that he is not thinking beyond the summer and appeared to rule out the immediate prospect a permanent deal with Chelsea.
