Bury St Edmunds V 1,Norwich IV 1

The point gained from this 5NE league game could prove vital at the end of the season and was well deserved after a solid performance. Bury strengthened their attack by bringing in Herod to support Chrystal and Rolfe. The first half produced chances at both ends. Norwich attacks were repelled by the strong defence of Hawes, Sullivan and Mitchell, while Roe in goal once again produced some vital saves.

The evergreen Lake and young Cooledge combined well down the right to feed Herod, whose stick skills dribbling into the D produced two short corners. One produced a stunning save from the Norwich keeper, the other missed by inches. Dyball and Watson in midfield produced further before the break.

Norwich went ahead after a goalline scramble following a short corner. Substitute Hollins added strength to the Bury midfield and a fine move starting in defence and feeding through captain Tasker allowed Herod to once again cause panic in the Norwich backs. A shot was deflected only as far as Chrystal, who nonchalantly flicked the ball into the roof of the net.
