Sudbury Ladies I 1, Sevenoaks Ladies II 2

Both teams were desperate to take three points from this clash of the top two.

Ten minutes into the first half table-topping Sudbury opened the scoring from a penalty flick for illegal defending in the Sevenoaks 'D'. Confident Hayley Spooner stepped up to the penalty spot and finished confidently.

Great runs by skipper Ellie Colton on the right and Tracey Caddock on the left maintained the momentum created by the goal but Sudbury were unlucky not to convert.

The home side went into the break one goal ahead due to some great defending from Sudbury commanded by goalie Sandra Mackay from the back.

After the break, a well worked short corner from the visitors saw them pull back the score to 1-1.

The match was even for the last 20 minutes, both sides creating chances but being denied. Sevenoaks dominated on the counter-attack, their striker ending up one-on-one with keeper Mackay and flicking the ball over her to find the back of the net.

Sudbury fought back but failed to equalise. Player-of-the-match was Katie Clark.

Next week Sudbury face bottom club Brentwood Ladies.
