But a defensive error resulted in Sudbury conceding an early goal despite keeper Lizzie Anderson's best efforts.

After half-time Sudbury put on a performance to be proud of. Alice Park and Moria Thompson worked hard on the wings and the solid defence of Olivia Hurley, Jaclyn Taylor, Lily Chiang and Kate Hurley ensured the opposition had minimal chances. Alice King played a strong game in the centre and was unfortunate not to score.

Players-of-the-match were Lily Chiang and Kate Hurley.

Having lost the toss, Sudbury attacked right from the first pushback, and despite a new line-up, with several players playing out of their regular positions, they soon settled into some excellent team play.

Florrie Barber put Sudbury in the lead before half-time, and with some of their best passing hockey this season, they were a handful after the break.

Solid defending by Jess Kendell, Ellie Bailey, Daisy Palmer, Sally Stephens and captain Harrington in goal, provided a solid base.

Excellent distribution from Rosie Daines, India Fitch-Holland, Hester Gatrall and Abi Alston pushed Izzy Gardner, Tash Layzell and Florrie Barber forward, which Florrie adding three more goals and Haster Gatrall one.
