IPSWICH Town's run of seven Coca-Cola Championship games without defeat - stretching back into last season - came to a shuddering halt at Vicarage Road this afternoon.
They failed to reach any great heights and were well beaten by a side that looks equipped to make a rapid return to the Premier League.
Poor Blues defending accounted for both the Hornets' goals with Darius Henderson netting after five minutes with a shot that went through Neil Alexander's legs.
And in the 74th minute Alex Bruce's header went straight to Tommy Smith who supplied a stylish 20-yard finish.
While they were found lacking at the back on occasions, Ipswich also found it difficult up front failing to serious test Mart Poom in the whole 90 minutes.
