‘Nothing concrete’ regarding Garner and Knudsen, but Hurst doesn’t rule out exits

Ipswich Town manager Paul Hurst says there is ‘nothing concrete’ regarding Joe Garner and Jonas Knudsen exit speculation.
Striker Garner has been linked to Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers all summer, while the EADT and Ipswich Star understands that Millwall and Sheffield United have also made enquiries. No bids have yet been lodged.
The 30-year-old scored 10 goals in his debut campaign for the Blues, following a £750k switch from Rangers, but has missed the majority of pre-season with a knee injury heading into Saturday’s opener against Blackburn at Portman Road.
Left-back Knudsen, 25, played for Denmark at the World Cup this summer and now enters the final year of his contract. Reports of a £1m bid from Stoke City emerged this week.
We understand a number of clubs, both in England and abroad, have made enquiries.
“No, there’s certainly nothing concrete in any of those two to my knowledge,” said Hurst. “I certainly expect Jonas to be part of the matchday squad at the weekend.”
Asked if they were both players he wanted to keep, Hurst said: “We’ll look at each situation on its own merits. If someone comes in and offers £10million for any of our players then I think we’d have some serious dialogue and chances are they might be on their way. But it all depends at what level.
“I want to put my own stamp on the squad, I’ve said that from the start.
“I’ve already probably been able to do a little bit more business than I thought I would initially. I thought we’d be working simply on loans. But Adam Webster leaving (£3.5m to Bristol City) has helped (with budget) and there are other things which are ongoing which may open other avenues.
“I’m trying to get my ducks in line to just strengthen that squad and try and get the players that fit how I would like to play.”
