JOE Dunne insists that he will not be wavering, in terms of his own brand of passing football, despite the desperate November endured by his Colchester United team.

The U’s lost five of their six games last month, but will be hoping that December brings better rewards, beginning with this Saturday’s home game against Oldham.

The Essex club are coming towards the end of a frustrating two-week break from action, following the bitter blow of a 5-1 trouncing at MK Dons last Saturday week.

“I still believe we can move up the table,” insisted Dunne.

“There are not many teams as good as MK Dons at doing what they do in this division.

“We have picked ourselves up, rather than mulled over it. We need to turn it around in December, though we have some very difficult games coming up.

“But I have to be honest – if we keep playing like this, against teams like Oldham, Bournemouth, Walsall Swindon and Crawley, then we will be getting hammered very week.”

Dunne spoke at length during a season ticket holders’ meeting on Tuesday night, during which he reaffirmed his own faith in the U’s new passing style.

“This is the birth of a philosophy that should be here forever, and how we want the team to play,” explained Dunne.

“I’m keen that, when the day comes and I move on, the next manager must believe in the same philosophy in the future.”

The Irishman also listed some of the clubs that have employed a similar philosophy, at a higher level, and that he has admired. These include Brighton, Ajax, Dortmund, Anderlecht, Arsenal, Swansea and Wigan.

Meanwhile, the U’s scheduled Essex Senior Cup tie at Brentwood Town this evening has been postponed due to heavy snowfall in the area.
