Colchester United boss, Joe Dunne, was delighted with the way his side battled back in the second-half against Oldham, to secure a 2-2 draw this afternoon.

George Moncur netted a 58th minute equaliser, on his U’s debut on loan from West Ham, to secure a point for the hosts in an entertaining game.

Earlier, new club captain Magnus Okuonghae had broken the deadlock in the seventh minute, only for Latics striker Jonathan Forte to respond with a slick brace of goals in the 28th and 40th minutes.

And the U’s ended the game looking the more likely winners.

“I thought we did enough to win it,” insisted Dunne.

“A lot more of the penalty action was in our favour in the second half, and territorially we did enough to take all three points.

“I thought it was a wonderful response from the team in the second half. We got more aggressive in midfield,” added Dunne

The Dubliner also had special praise for Moncur.

“I thought George (Moncur) played exceptionally well,” confirmed Dunne.

“We had only got clearance for him to play at 10pm last night, so I decided to start with Craig Eastmond and Alex Gilbey in midfield.

“But George came on and showed terrific courage and commitment for a young player, to get on the ball.”
