Ipswich East Suffolk II 2 Sudbury III 1
Unavailability and injuries saw Ipswich East Suffolk field a bare eleven against a stronger than expected Sudbury team who were looking to avoid relegation.
After an unsettled start, IES played some very neat one touch hockey and any Sudbury attacks were kept at bay by the well organised home defence.
Alexander, in her last game of the season, took a nasty knock to the face before Thorpe scored a well-taken goal to provide IES with a lead going into half time.
After the re-start IES continued to press the Sudbury goal and midway through the half Fuller scored from a penalty corner to ease the tension for the home side.
Sudbury then scored a soft goal in the final minutes.
IES travel to unbeaten Haverhill for their penultimate game of the season next week assured of third place after a solid campaign.
IES Team: Adams, Burch, Baskett, Price, Ben Rabha, Keedle, Alexander, Elsom, Simpson, Thorpe, Fuller.
