Ipswich East Suffolk II 3 Castaways 0

Ipswich East Suffolk took to the field with eleven outfield players on pitch, including youngsters Emma Cope and Hannah Rashed who were making their debuts.

IES' confidence on the ball saw them play neat possession hockey, which saw them rewarded with several short corners, however poor finishing and some good saves by the Castaways goalkeeper kept the score line goalless until Cook's pass inside the circle eluded everyone and somehow crossed the line.

Excellent play by the IES midfield of Moran, Elsom and Alexander saw more pressure piled onto the Castaways defence.

Cook, Gooderham and Simpson pressured the goal, finally resulting in IES being awarded with a penalty stroke which Cook stepped up to take, but was easily saved by the Castaways keeper.

The second half saw IES start brightly and again some neat precise play saw Claxton score to make it 2-0 before Simpson flicked the ball into the net to make it three without reply.

The IES defence was rarely troubled, but when there were attacks, they were easily dealt with an outstanding display from Lizzie Burch.
