Division Seven South East
Ipswich East Suffolk IV 4 Upminster IV 2
An early start to blow away the cobwebs saw IES set out in breezy style taking the game to the opposition and scoring through a crisp short corner strike from Keedle. They threatened to go further ahead but the IES defence found a youthful attack too hot to handle on occasions and Upminster pulled one back. The pattern of play was then repeated with IES taking the lead through Mark Day before needlessly squandering their position by conceding a goal shortly before half time. The second half found IES resolved not to contrive to lose a match that should have been sewn up in the first half. Faultless Keedle scored again from a short corner and Mark Day potted his brace from a well worked move, slamming home a sweet reverse. IES allowed themselves to come under pressure towards the end of the game but in truth Upminster never threatened to pull back a two goal deficit. An enjoyable game played in good spirit.
