Ipswich 1 Bromley & Beckenham 3
Ipswich's strong start to the season was brought to a halt on Sunday by Bromley & Beckenham.
Although the Suffolk side back to full strength, with Royce Waters and Tom Dunnett rejoining the squad, the remainder of the side looked weary following a hard fought game against Cambridge University the previous day.
A lethargic warm up led to a damaging first 20 minutes in which the talented Bromley outfit scored three times.
However, despite growing frustration, Ipswich showed fantastic resolve in front of home support to fiercely contest the remaining 50 minutes.
Indeed during the second half Ipswich appeared to be a team reborn with glorious flowing hockey down both left and right, but sadly were unable to take any of their scoring chances.
Despite this, Ipswich continued to chase the game and finally all their hard work paid off in the dying seconds of the game when a well flighted ball from Royce was plucked from amongst the heart of the Bromley defence by Mark Wrinch, who then finished casually into the top corner.
