Division One North

Ipswich 2 Peterborough City 0

IPSWICH hosted Peterborough in a re-arranged match at Tuddenham Road on Saturday. Peterborough looked the stronger side initially, marking tightly and pressurising Ipswich into their own half for the first 10 minutes. Ipswich then began to find their feet and the remainder of the first half was tightly contested but neither team were able to score. Half-time score: 0-0.

In the second half Ipswich stepped up the pace and began attacking through the centre of the pitch. A penetrating lead from forward Lowri Davies in her debut match fed the ball to Mitch Chidgney who drove into the 'D' and slotted the ball calmly past the keeper. Ipswich defenders Sam Bennett, Kat Wrinch and Jenny Ellis worked hard to overturn possession and Captain Hannah Tallent provided an effective link between the midfield and attack.

During another period of attack on the right wing Lowri Davies drove along the baseline and slipped the ball back to the 'P' spot where forward Connie Bedingfield slapped it onto the backboard extending Ipswich's lead. Possession continued to be fairly evenly distributed for the remainder of the match but Ipswich defended well and gained a well-earned 3 points.

Ipswich remain in fifth place in East Division One North with 33 points and will face St Ives at home next Saturday. 'Player of the Match' was awarded to Captain Hannah Tallent for an excellent performance in midfield and 'Personal Best' was awarded to Lowri Davies in her debut match for the twos.
