Eastern Counties 1 - Ipswich YM 35 Wisbech 21

IPSWICH YM collected a comfortable victory in a hard-fought match.

An early YM mix-up saw a Wisbech centre take full advantage, kicking the ball through under the YM posts and following up to score a try.

On 18 minutes the YM pack stole the ball and it ended in the hands of full-back Sherifi, who scored in the corner to make the score 7-5 to Wisbech.

YM came away with the only other points of the half with two well-taken penalties from Elliston, so making the half-time score 11-7 to YM.

Wisbech hit back straight after the resumption, but then YM were awarded a penalty. The hosts decided not to go for the posts, and instead put the ball in the corner for a line-out. This proved a great decision with YM winning the ball and, after four great drives, centre Elliston powered over to score.

YM pinned Wisbech in their own half and a great steal from Potter saw the ball find the hands of the captain, Terblanche, who broke the Wisbech defence to score under the posts. Elliston gave YM a 23-14 lead.

The best move of the season saw number 8 Potter pop the ball out behind his back to Elliston, who went over for his second of the game.

YM were not finished and straight from the restart Blow used all his strength to power over the line.
