Ipswich Cranes 11 Bury St Edmunds III 0

CRANES inflicted a significant defeat on their local rivals despite the poor playing conditions, in fact the only weather not experienced was snow as the players started in sunshine but played through driving rain, gale force winds and half light although, as the scoreline demonstrates, Cranes were on top throughout.

A first-half hat trick from Robin Johnson took his tally for the season to 15 as he enjoys the form of his life and goals from Andy Bristow and Craig Bloomfield meant that the game was effectively over by half time as Cranes led 5-0. Paul Muchal already had several assists to his name and was similarly effective in the second half as successfully converted penalty corners brought Bloomfield his hat trick and allowed Mark Campbell to score also. Bristow and Johnson each added a further goal and Andel Williams grabbed a goal via a deflection.

The Cranes' defence had little to do throughout but what they did face was coped with adequately and with points being dropped by the league leaders, Cranes moved up into second position in the league behind unbeaten Thetford Town. This match did wonders for Cranes' goal difference who are now the league's leading scorers with only Thetford having conceded less. There is still a long way to go much hard work to be done and Cranes will hope to continue their form in the run up to the Christmas break.
