NE14HOCKEY East League (Premier A)

Ipswich 11 Harpenden 0

Ipswich second team were back to their fluent best, putting bottom club Harpenden to the sword in this league game. It was a brilliant team performance, and very pleasing on the eye for the crowd, who certainly got their monies worth.

Ipswich had sown up this game inside the first ten minutes, flying into a four-goal lead. Cook netted five, two from short corners that left the back board in tatters. James Walker and James Smith were pulled out retirement once again and both ended up on the score sheet.

Josh Godfrey is rapidly making a name for himself, helped by a fine display in attack, using his pace to put the Harpenden defence to the test. Godfrey and Cook are forming a potent partnership with the pace of Godfrey and the finishing ability of Cook proving unstoppable. Once again among the goals was Miller, again using his flair to create opportunities in the opposition half.

The arrival of Nick Fry with 20 minutes remaining sealed up the defence, and it was a fine example of how to play hockey simply. Ipswich travel to Dereham next week who lie a place below them in the league.
