Ipswich II 2 Peterborough 1

ON Saturday Ipswich hosted Peterborough City and began the match with a high energy performance with fantastic communication across the whole pitch which made them look menacing driving forwards into the Peterborough 'D'. Ipswich scored an early goal during this attacking period with Annabel Driver getting the final touch as the ball slipped inside the post.

Their second followed within the first 15 minutes from a penalty corner slipped left to Captain Anni Broster who scored from a fantastic reverse stick shot.

In the second half Ipswich characteristically made things a little harder for themselves, struggling a little with the heat and not allowing the ball to do the hard work rather than their legs! Ipswich continued to produce some great attacking play utilising simple triangles around the Peterborough players driving forwards, and they continued to defend with composure, but Peterborough were able to find occasional gaps in the middle of the pitch. Peterborough scored and Ipswich had a player sent off for a reverse stick tackle with five minutes left to play.

Peterborough attacked until the final whistle but Ipswich produced some solid defending securing their three points. MOTM went to Arianne Hanman for a great performance at back of the diamond.
