AFTER a positive team-talk and warm-up Ipswich entered the pitch determined to take three points from Saffron Walden on Saturday. A toughly fought battle ensued with both teams generating attacking opportunities and both unable to capitalise on these. In the second half Ipswich tried to step-up the pace and play some more flowing hockey, but they were unable to link up

effectively across the pitch and Saffron Walden made the most of this scoring the first goal of the match from a ball struck wide right which deflected up off a stick and found its way into the roof of the net. Ipswich unfortunately let their heads go down a little and despite continuing to play some good hockey, Walden scored a second goal. With encouragement on the sideline from coach Mark Wheelhouse Ipswich continued to push until the final whistle, and despite getting some shots off in the Walden 'D' were unable to change the score line.

Ipswich remain in third place in the league with 35 points and are travelling to Colchester next Saturday to play the top of the league team who they held to a draw before Christmas.
