Ipswich II 4 Bury St Edmunds 0
Ipswich are now six points clear with a game in hand over second placed Norwich Union who they play next week. A win there would secure promotion back to the top league in the East.
Sunday saw a second team national cup game against defending champions Old Loughtonians II.
Ipswich were under a great deal of pressure in the first half and were kept in it by a couple of vital saves from keeper Claire Gould.
In the second half Ipswich stepped up the pace with the help of performances from Lucy Gallagher at right back and Leisa King. However, despite winning a number of short corners, Ipswich were unable to capitalise.
Full time ended with no goal and saw the beginning of seven and a half minutes golden goal each way. Ipswich won the toss and straight from the push back Leisa King passed to Emily Masson who took the ball down the right wing and passed back to King at the top of the D. King let leash a powerful shot to the far post and Amanda Little was there to deflect it into the goal after only 26 seconds. Ipswich now face Trojans Ladies II at home in the quarter-finals on March 25.
