IPSWICH Town's Pan Disability 'Premiership' team narrowly missed out on lifting a major title last weekend. The Blues lost 5-3 on penalties against Liverpool in a national final held at the David Beckham Academy, London.
Ipswich Town Community Trust fielded three squads of Pan Disability players at the FA Ability Counts competition. All three qualified by finishing respectively top of their regional leagues at the Premiership, Championship and League levels. The squads faced other regional winners from around the country including teams from Plymouth Argyle, Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, Sheffield Wednesday and Soccability FLC.
Carolyn Shaw, Active Projects Manager commented: “The tournament was a great success and really tested our players. The National Finals are a fantastic tournament to be involved in and it was an excellent sign of the progress of Pan Disability football in Suffolk that Ipswich were one of the few clubs to field a successful team within all three levels of the tournament.”
