Ipswich Town put struggling Sunderland to the sword at Portman Road tonight, winning 5-2 to become the Championship's top-scorers.

Martyn Waghorn opened the scoring with a glancing header and then provided assists for Jordan Spence, Bersant Celina and David McGoldrick before substitute Grant Ward put the icing on the cake.

Joe Garner led the line superbly for the Blues as Waghorn, McGoldrick and Celina linked up brilliantly just in behind.

Tom Adeyemi produced another encouraging display along Cole Skuse in midfield, the latter having really raised his game this season.

Full-backs Jonas Knudsen and Dominic Iorfa were also outstanding, with Spence again solid alongside skipper Luke Chambers at the heart of the defence and Bartosz Bialkowski making some solid stops when called upon.

The Blues, who played with vim and vigour throughout, are up to fifth ahead of Saturday’s visit of Bristol City to Portman Road.
