Ipswich Town have reportedly put a £500k price tag on David McGoldrick.

The striker is out of contract this summer and, unusually, the Blues do not have a 12 month extension clause in his deal meaning he could walk away for nothing come May.

A quartet of Championship clubs – Cardiff, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham and Fulham – are all said to be considering a cut-price offer before the January transfer window closes at 11pm next Wednesday.

And now the Daily Mirror are reporting that the Blues will be willing to cash in for £500k.

Speaking about McGoldrick exit speculation earlier this month, Blues boss Mick McCarthy said: “He is an obvious target. None of us want to lose him but we’ll see what happens.

“There is the short-term view on the four months left of the season and then the long-term where, if he was to go, it wouldn’t be great for the short-term but if we replace him with somebody younger then that may well be beneficial for the long-term.”

Speaking last October, McGoldrick said: “This is one of the most important years for me, no doubt about that.

“I’m out of contract and there is no option on that either. It’s down to me and the club what happens next year.

“I have not been offered anything by the club yet but if that changes then obviously I’ve got to look at it. I have a lot of respect for the club and the staff here.

“My family are back in Nottingham, so I have to think about that. I’m 29 now and have probably got one or maybe two contracts ahead of me before I’m in the real world, as they say!

“It’s a short career, football, so I know it’s a big decision for me ahead but, as I said, it’s not something I’m worried about. I will deal with it when I come across it.”
