Midfielder Luke Hyam insists the Ipswich Town squad are not preoccupied by discussions over the club’s next manager.
Bryan Klug is in caretaker charge following the departure of Mick McCarthy, with owner Marcus Evans already stating he will take his time to ensure his next appointment is the right one for the club.
Lincoln manager Danny Cowley remains favourite with most bookmakers for the Portman Road vacancy, with former Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard, ex-Ipswich captain Tony Mowbray and Paul Cook of Wigan all featuring highly on betting lists, but Hyam insists he and his team-mates are just focussed on on-field matters.
“It’s one of those things where we don’t have a clue and the fans probably know and read more than what we do,” Hyam said.

“Our job at the present time is to give our all and get results on the football pitch so that’s what we’re concentrating on.
“At the moment we’ve got Bryan (Klug), Nashy (Gerard Nash) and Hoggy (Chris Hogg) and we’re going to give them our all until we’re told otherwise in terms of a new manager.
“Until someone new comes in we will just see what happens.”
When asked what attributes he and his team-mates would look for in a new manager, Hyam replied: “It’s not down to me.
“Managers will always have their opinions on players and their style of play so, as a player you just have to give 110 per cent and give exactly what the manager asks for.”
Hyam’s Portman Road future remains in the balance, with the Blues having until the end of this week to exercise an option in his contract to extend his expiring deal for a further season.

The homegrown midfielder is still waiting for news on that front, though.
“I’m still waiting,” he said.
“I’m still concentrating on my football and whatever will be, will be.
“You never know what’s round the corner in football but I’m just keeping my head down and want to carry on being back out there. Whatever will be will be and we will see what happens at the end of the season.
“It’s nice to get as many games as possible and after a long injury lay-off it was nice to have a run of games.
“You are only going to get match fitness and get better by playing games so long may it continue.”
