Colchester United will host Ipswich Town in a pre-season at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, this summer.
The game between the U’s, who finished 16th in League One, and Town, who finished ninth in the Championship – four points off the play-offs – will be held on Wednesday July 23, with a 7.30pm kick-off.
Last season’s game saw Ipswich run out comfortable 3-0 winners.
There are several links between the clubs with Town having former U’s skipper Anthony Wordsworth, goalkeeper Dean Gerken and ex-United loanee Tommy Smith in their ranks, while current Colchester players David Wright and Tom Eastman had spells at Portman Road.
