Ipswich Town’s Under 18s were beaten 3-1 by Leeds United this morning at Playford Road.
The young Blues started their season with a 3-1 win at Forest last weekend but suffered their first defeat of the season in their home-opener.
The visitors took the lead when an unmarked Oliver Casey headed in from a corner, but the Blues equalised through Lounes Foudil as the Frenchman found space in the midfield and hit a strike from 25 yards which found the top corner of the net.
However the Blues made two aerrors in two second half minutes to suffer defeat in a game in which they were largely on top.
The first came when keeper Egan saw the ball go through his legs via a weak shot by Max McMillan which awkwardly bounced, before Town captain Riley Scott passed back to his keeper. Egan wasn’t on hand to receive it so it rolled into the back of the net as the visitors leave Playford Road with three points.
Town XI: Egan, Ronan, T Smith, Henry, Henderson, Ruffles, Foudil, Brown, Dobra, Hughes
Subs: Alley, Bareck, Barley, Reed, Baker
