Ipswich Town midfielder Anthony Wordsworth has joined Crawley Town on a three-month loan.
The former Colchester United player has made just one start and one sub appearance for Town this season, and has just returned from a similar length loan spell at Rotherham United, where he scored one goal in six league appearances.
Blues boss Mick McCarthy said: “It hasn’t (worked out for Wordsworth at Ipswich),” said McCarthy.
“He has had his opportunities, he got injured a bit – he fractured his spine against Hull and had an awful start with injuries – and never really got going. Hopefully he will get some football there.”
“Anthony is going to be a great addition to our squad in an area of the team we need to strengthen,” said Crawley interim manager Dean Saunders.
“He’s aggressive, mobile and he can bring goals to the team as well.
“I know he’s looking forward to a new challenge with us over the next three months and to be playing regularly in League One.”

Wordsworth could make his debut for 23rd-placed League One side Crawley on Saturday against Rochdale.
Ironically, Wordsworth’s only start for Ipswich this season came against Crawley at the Checkatrade Stadium in the Capital One Cup, a game Town lost 1-0.
