IPSWICH Town chief executive Derek Bowden has today confirmed Alex Bruce has rejected the offer of a new two year deal.
Despite insisting the club would not be offering any of the 14 players out of contract in the summer a new deal until March at the earliest, Town moved to try and secure the central defender but Bruce was not impressed with the package.
Bowden said: “We have been talking to Alex's representatives over the last couple of weeks and a new two year contract was put on the table.
“We consider the offer to be a very good one but I can confirm that it has been rejected. That is the end of the matter for now.”
A number of clubs are understood to be keen on Bruce but no firm offer has yet been made.
