ALEX Bruce is poised for a switch to Leeds United after Ipswich Town once more stalled on offering him a contract.

The Blues defender would love to stay at Portman Road and his agent was at the club during the week again trying to sort something out but had no joy.

As he is out of contract in the summer, Bruce is entitled to talk to other clubs and the Elland Road outfit are ready to offer around 100,000 to capture the former Birmingham City player.

Town could force Bruce to wait until nearer the summer before offering him a deal but are likely to just grab the cash rather than lose the 24-year-old him for nothing.

Leeds are looking to strengthen as they push for promotion from League One and that is something Bruce, who is also stood to have attracted interest from a couple of Championship clubs, including cash-strapped Norwich City, and three Serie A sides, including Fiorentina, is considering.

Bruce could reclaim his place in the Ipswich starting line up today at full back, although he has also shown to be comfortable at centre back with the Republic of Ireland, where he is making good progress in the international set up.

The defender is popular among Town fans who constantly chant 'sign him up' and this latest move will do little to appease disgruntled Ipswich supporters.
