Scotland manager George Burley is to run the rule over English-born Ipswich defender David Wright.
Burley has been alerted by his former club that the 28-year-old is eligible to play for Scotland through his grandparents.
Burley will now look to watch Warrington-born Wright, who has also played for Crewe and Wigan.
"The player has stated to the staff at Ipswich that he is keen to play for Scotland, so we will now check to make sure he is eligible," Burley said. "I've been told that the bloodline is grandparents on his dad's side.
"David's name was mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago. I had actually seen him quite a lot over the last few years at Crewe and when he was at Wigan with Paul Jewell.
"He's one we will be keeping an eye on now and I will be watching him personally at some point.'
