WYCOMBE Wanderers boss Peter Taylor is keen to sign Chris Casement on a permanent basis next season.

The Northern Ireland U21 international Chris Casement has returned to Ipswich Town following his loan spell at Adams Park and it is not anticipated he will be offered a new deal by the Blues when his current contract expires in the summer.

The right back has made ten appearances for Wanderers and even though his loan expires today this may not be the last Blues see of him.

Former England manager Taylor was so impressed by the versatile Casement, who can also play centre-half, that he is considering inviting him back, whichever division the Chairboys are in next season.

Taylor said: “He's got a good career ahead of him. He's a good lad who can play in a couple of positions. He's done very well for us, he's only young but he has come in and played in some big games for us.

“He is someone I will be keeping an eye on.”

Casement's 93-day loan is the maximum allowed so he had to return to Portman Road early and means he will miss the play-offs should wanderers need them.

They are battling to catch League Two leaders Brentford who have Billy Clarke on loan and scored in their 1-1 draw last weekend.
