Charlie set to continue with Eire role

CHARLIE Woods, manager Jim Magilton's adviser at Portman Road, is set to continue his role with the Republic of Ireland.Italian Giovanni Trapattoni, 68, is to take over as manager of the Irish senior side on May 1, and Woods is expecting to carry on his duties.

CHARLIE Woods, manager Jim Magilton's adviser at Portman Road, is set to continue his role with the Republic of Ireland.

Italian Giovanni Trapattoni, 68, is to take over as manager of the Irish senior side on May 1, and Woods is expecting to carry on his duties.

He joined the Irish set-up when former Town manager Sir Bobby Robson was recruited to be previous manager Steve Staunton's adviser.

Woods said today: “As far as I know I will carry on watching games for the Republic of Ireland.”

He watched the friendly against Brazil in Dublin earlier this month with Robson and shares his international match assessment part time duties with Bolton official John Deehan - also a former Ipswich player.
