IPSWICH Town boss Roy Keane will be breathing a sigh of relief this afternoon after Sunderland told the club they have no intention of recalling Jack Colback from his loan spell.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce wants the 20-year-old to continue getting first team experience at Portman Road despite injuries to several key midfielders including Steed Malbranque and Andy Reid.

“The last thing I want to do is call them back for cover for a week or two,” Bruce told the Black Cats' website with Martyn Waghorn also set to remain at Leicester City. “We've seen the benefit of Jordan Henderson going out on loan last season and I think that will benefit them as well.”

Keane believes Colback has the potential to carve out a career in the Premier League but will have to continue developing as a player.

“Jack has a chance to be a top player, but there's a big gap to overcome between the Championship and the Premier League.”
